About the Auction for the Cumbria Flood Recovery Fund
Following the devastating floods in Cumbria on the 19th of November; Kat was talking with Chloe Roberts of Touch Wood Toys, Keswick about what could be done to help. Within an hour Kat had begun to contact other bloggers through Twitter, British Mummy Bloggers network and via her personal blog Housewife Confidential. 24 hours later the idea was gathering speed and taking shape with bloggers from all over offering support and asking for donations. When it looked like an online charity auction might not be possible mycharitywins.com saw a tweet about the event and stepped in to create this site against our tight deadline. A little over a week later and here we are, an online charity auction packed full of generously donated goodies.
The auction begins at 12pm on Monday 30th November 2009 and bidding closes at 6pm on Sunday 6th December. Bidding is easy, your register, choose if you would like to be anonymous or not, select your item and enter your bid. The system then bids on your behalf up to your pre-approved maximum. If you are the successful winning bidder you will be contacted after the auction closes and given details of how to make your donation. Once your donation is confirmed we arrange for the lot donors to send your lot.
We hope to open a raffle later in the week where you can be in with a chance of winning some amazing prizes in return for a donation. We are currently waiting for the charity to be confirmed with Just Giving. Once we have that confirmation the raffle will be announced on Bambino Goodies. This auction is in aid of the Cumbria Flood Recovery Fund which was set up by Cumbria Community Foundation. Money raised will be used to help those most vulnerable members of the communities affected by the floods.
This auction would not have been possible without the huge effort made by the online community. To find out more about who helped to create each auction lot visit the Auction for Cumbria Flood Foundation page on Bambino Goodies. You can find out more about Bambino Goodies and about Mums Rock by visiting their websites.
